Robert the Bruce

Throughout history Scotland’s seats of power have changed hands many times to include Stirling, Dunfermline, Falkland and Inverness.  Discover the fascinating history of Scottish royalty and nobility through visiting royal palaces associated with Scotland’s most famous and notorious royals including Mary Queen of Scots, Robert the Bruce, Alexander the Third and other prominent figures from Scotland’s past such as William Wallace and Rob Roy McGregor.

Visit Stirling Castle, a strategic stronghold for centuries sitting at the gateway to the Scottish Highlands changing hands often during successive conflicts such as the Scottish Wars of Independence and the Jacobite Risings alongside the nearby battlefields of Bannockburn, Stirling Bridge and Sheriffmuir.  Journey through the Kingdom of Fife to explore the final resting place of the legendary King Robert the Bruce at Dumfermline Abbey and the favoured home of Mary Queen of Scots at the decadent Falkland Palace. If you’re lucky perhaps even some of its lesser seen legends such as the Loch Ness Monster on the way to Inverness and the notorious Culloden Battlefield where the Jacobite Risings met their conclusion.

Visiting several of Scotland’s medieval settlements encompasses several parts of the country and can therefore be combined with elements of other tours should you wish.  Please take a look at our other tours to see if there are other locations or places of interest you may wish to include in your tour.
